DescriptionAmazon is seeking a Project Engineer – Nationwide Opportunity to support the Amazon Logistics North America (AMZL NA) Engineering team, part of Amazon’s Last Mile organization. The Last Mile team helps get customer packages from delivery stations to a customer’s doorstep.We are looking for individuals who have experience creating scalable solutions to tough engineering problems. In this role, the Project Engineer – Nationwide Opportunity will be responsible for designing, managing and executing the next generation of delivery station processes, equipment, and operations. This is a unique opportunity to own new innovative projects that will advance the intelligence of our last mile business.Key job responsibilitiesResponsibilities:• Identify and lead process improvement initiatives in support of operations teams within a geographic node• Conduct post mortem on designs after implementation in partnering with Safety, Maintenance, and Operations• Lead initiatives and complex cross-functional projects or programs in ambiguous and complex problem spaces• Participate in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs• Integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency• Responsible to deep dive technical solutions that encompass advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, material handling integration, and vendor commissioning content and expectations• Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams to come up with innovative solutions• Develop, document and update design standards in conjunction with worldwide design teams• Develop cross-functional knowledge of Operations and Engineering team systems, processes, procedures, and tools• Define projects (scope, delivery, and budget), set objectives, analyze data, drive improvements to metrics, and influence resource allocation• Lead and actively participate in design reviews and communicate future impacts of proposed solutions on an individual system or its components, on the overall systems architecture, and on facility processes• Develop and manage budget and contract documents including RFPs, change order controls, and purchase orders• Design and develop engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges considering human/equipment interactions for the North America delivery network• Lead and coordinate design development efforts for optimal solutions for the North America delivery network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout• Manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors• Use of CAD based software for review of Material Handling Equipment, building and electrical schematics and layouts*Travel approximately 50% of the time**This role can also be based out of Bellevue, WA or other applicable regional delivery stationsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM field5+ years of experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or related occupation5+ years of experience directly managing and responsible for large material handling or automation projectsExperience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systemsExperience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related STEM fieldDesign and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as complex material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing linesOperations Management/Distribution Center experienceExperience in e-commerce customer fulfillmentCertified OE Black Belt, Green Belt or Lean Sensei, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centersExperience in running SQL queries and data miningKnowledge in technical leadership for large-scale industrial engineering projects or programsExperience with automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturingExperience with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Project and OutlookAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market.
