The Position

Your Role: As our Accounts Payable Manager , you'll be the driving force behind our account payables processes. You'll manage and coach staff and ensure compliance with Port administrative policies, procedures, and internal controls. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and coordination with other departments and staff across the Port.
Essential Job Duties
  • Manages Port wide accounts payable function and staff;
    • plans and directs workload for the department
    • Prepare and conduct performance reviews
    • Coach develop and mentor employees
    • Identifies, recommends and implements procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and security of the accounts payable software system, operation, and data. Coordinates directly with I.T. to resolve processing problems and enhance system performance and functionality.
  • Directs coordination with other departments and personnel to ensure processing of data required for timely and accurate payment of invoices using three-way matching.
  • Monitors compliance with Port administrative policy on contracting and expenditure authority.
  • Administers Port administrative policy on travel and management expense and ensures compliance with policy and IRS Accountable Plan rules.
  • Serves as primary contact with vendors to resolve payment issues.
  • Identifies and recommends efficiencies for processing of invoices; performs or participates in the performance of special projects and other duties, as assigned.
  • Manages and ensures compliance with annual IRS 1099 and other reporting requirements.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related.
    • Five or more years progressively responsible direct experience in the account payable field.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in a supervisory role managing employees non-exempt.
    • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties.
    Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong managerial and leadership skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
    • Experience with procurement card programs
    • Expertise in electronic payments and related systems
    • Knowledge of unclaimed property statutes and compliance
    • Familiarity with HR policies and practices
    • Understanding of employment-related laws and regulations
    • Advanced knowledge of accounts payable processes, software, and industry best practices
    • Experience with federal reporting requirements and compliance

    SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):
    1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of October 28, 2024.
    2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.
    3. Our goal is to schedule virtual first round of interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible.
