SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT

The Senior Staff Accountant will lead all departmental finance functions, ensuring the smooth execution of the monthly activity cycle and reporting. This role involves comprehensive responsibility for audits and reviews, the preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, grant accounting and reporting, budget analysis, and budget reporting. The Senior Staff Accountant is tasked with maintaining accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks, providing a critical contribution to the financial health and operational success of the organization.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor the accounting system to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, local governments, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for grants and programs, collaborating with stakeholders to maximize funding and ensure financial activities remain within established parameters.
  • Prepare, review, and submit documentation in support of external and internal audits.
  • Organize yearly financial statement, single, and vendor audits, making sure transactions are accurately reported and all necessary documentation is maintained for successful audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations, policies, procedures, and budgets.
  • Support the development of department staff and maintain a positive, efficient, and effective work environment, including identifying and implementing process improvements to best utilize technology and staff resources.
  • Foster and enhance a working environment that promotes accountability, active participations, collaboration, curiosity, and adaptability.
  • Maintain and monitor strict confidentiality and integrity of Guild's accounting system, ensuring all sensitive data is securely handled and protected.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred
  • CPA or CMA.
  • Non-profit accounting.
  • Grant Budget / Reporting experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Must not be actively receiving services from Guild and must not have received services within the last two years.
