Director of Information Technology Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the company’s IT infrastructure. This role includes planning, coordinating, and directing all IT-related activities, as well as providing administrative direction and support for daily operational activities. The Director of IT will work closely with decision-makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions and hardware to support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and leadership to develop and direct enterprise-wide IT strategies that align with the company’s business goals and objectives.
  • Direct the implementation and execution of new and upgraded information systems, ensuring adherence to project plans, timelines, and budgets. Oversee the full system’s lifecycle, including scoping, support, escalations, patching, planning, and retirement.
  • Evaluate and implement IT procedures and equipment for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure users receive professional, courteous, and timely support and service.
  • Structure, lead, train, manage, and develop the IT staff to achieve maximum effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulations to ensure the company’s IT operations remain effective and compliant.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s Disaster Recovery Plan (as it relates to IT/functions that you oversee to ensure business continuity).
  • Develop and conduct user training programs as needed.
  • Further develop and enforce cybersecurity protocols to protect company data and IT infrastructure.
  • Assist in identifying, selecting, and managing external IT vendors, including negotiating contracts, ensuring vendor performance meets company standards, and overseeing billing and payments.
  • Oversee IT projects from initiation to completion, utilizing project management methodologies to ensure timely and successful delivery.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to enhance business processes and drive innovation within the IT department.
  • Communicate IT strategies, performance, and key metrics to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure IT operations comply with relevant laws and regulations and implement risk management strategies to mitigate IT-related risks, including segregation of duties, vendor risk management, and contract management.
  • Drive the development of best practices in IT governance and compliance, leveraging industry standards and benchmarks to continuously improve processes and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, with the ability to work overtime as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in IT management, with a preference for experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and achieve results through others.
  • Must be able to think ahead and plan over a definite time span.
  • Must be able to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be a strong team player.
  • Technical software skills and experience include MS Office, Windows XP, Fabtrol, Spectrum, SQL Server, Crystal Reports, Trix for Document Imaging, Nortel OTM and Call Pilot administration.

  • Capacity to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to meet the demands of the position.
  • Occasional lifting to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
