JOB PURPOSE
The Vice President, MPI Academy will lead MPI in fulfilling its aspiration of becoming the premier global organization for professional development by 2027 by providing strategic direction and operational leadership over the MPI Academy. This critical revenue team member leads MPI’s efforts in developing and managing a complex educational, B2B and B2C marketplace of internally created, user-generated, externally sourced, and partnership-generated professional development courses, classes, and certificates.
This position will drive brand awareness, membership value, and revenue growth by fostering partnerships within the educational sector and business landscape, leveraging MPI’s and partners’ distribution networks. They will use industry and market intelligence to develop a comprehensive business strategy, navigating complex ecosystems and fostering mutually beneficial relationships.
BUSINESS MANDATE
Scale and oversee a B2B and B2C marketplace of internally created and curated, user-generated, and externally sourced professional development courses, classes, and certificates, fueling enterprise profits and the global growth of the MPI brand through the development, aggregation, and distribution of educational offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Business and Brand Growth: Develop and implement strategies to drive significant revenue growth and expand market share within the educational and B2B marketplace. Identify new business opportunities and revenue streams to maximize profitability. Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of business development efforts. (30%)
- Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with educational institutions, content creators, B2B companies, and other relevant stakeholders. Oversee the negotiation of partnership agreements and contracts to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes. Collaborate with internal teams to align partnership initiatives with overall business objectives. (30%)
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including educational leaders, B2B clients, and industry influencers. Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure seamless partner experiences. (15%)
- Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices within the education, association, and B2B industries, sharing insights and expertise with internal teams and external partners, attending and leading sessions at industry events. (10%)
- Technology Solutions: Select, build, and manage MPI’s B2B/B2C technology needs, collaborating with IT to source new platforms, technology solutions, and build business and use cases. Evaluate and monitor existing and new technologies and make recommendations on MPI Academy’s tech strategy and market presence. (10%)
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify opportunities for growth within the educational and B2B/B2C sectors. Analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and sponsor and customer needs to inform strategic decision-making. (5%)

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 or more years of experience in business development, partnership management, or a related role, preferably within the education, training association, or B2B event sectors.
- Proven track record of building intrapreneurial businesses.
- Proven track record of successfully building and managing strategic partnerships that drive business growth.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (MBA or master’s degree in education preferred).
