The Retail Construction Estimator role will work cross-functionally with a diverse group of stakeholders. Retail Construction Estimator will be the team’s cost expert, working with preconstruction team, outside consultants, landlords and general contractors to develop detailed estimating tools and project budgets. Estimating will range from detailed unit takeoff and labor productivity estimating up to high-level conceptual level budgets.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESWork on project costs from initial site review through lease negotiation and continuously refine template costs, estimating tools and project cost archiveConsistently manage stakeholder expectations, schedules, budgets and multiple work scopes efficientlyProvide detailed project quantity surveys using Onscreen Takeoff or similar tools, based on architectural and MEP plan setsDevelop and use team estimating tools, including work letter scope estimates, line item template estimates in Winest and high level pro forma cost inputsDefine and track cost performance metricsCommunicate cost control goals to all stakeholders effectivelyLead weekly meetings for high profile or as-is deliver projects, keeping all parties aligned on scope, schedule and budgetIdentify Value Engineering opportunities in the design and quantify the savingsIdentify project risks and the financial cost impacts associated and communicate to the broader teamScale estimating function using both internal and external resources. Outsource work to external estimating firms and mentor construction team to use estimating toolsFind creative and innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliabilityPresent construction cost budgets to cross functional teams and justifying main cost driversCollaborate with cross functional teams on mission critical tasksDevelop high level cost estimates utilizing initial site review information and/ or landlord correspondenceTravel throughout North America approximately 20% of the timeBasic Qualifications7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experienceBachelor's degreePreferred QualificationsExperience in retail/ grocery projectsExperience with senior-level presentationsExperience leading Teams and developing TalentProvide business decision support and participate/lead special projectsStrong organizational skills and business acumenSelf-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamAbility to work with technical and non-technical business owners to overcome obstacles and deliver resultsEntrepreneurial and comfortable wearing many hatsAbility to work effectively in a highly collaborative environmentComfortable working with landlords, engineers, architects, real estate managers, subcontractors, contractors and other project delivery team membersDetail-oriented with the ability to work back from core customer needsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,600/year in our highest geographic market.
