Qualifications

  • You have at least two years of professional work experience of project managing on complex, multi-part projects
  • You have experience with large-scale survey research and data analysis and would describe yourself as a “data nerd.”
  • You have experience with nonprofit and social sector dynamics
  • You have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and are able to manage yourself and others to a timeline
  • You are a self-starter, with an enthusiastic “can-do” approach, and can move complex projects forward without heavy oversight
  • You are a strong communicator and relationship-builder and can manage internal and external relationships in a thoughtful manner
  • You have an aptitude for problem-solving and are able to identify challenges and opportunities and provide solutions
  • You are flexible, adaptable, and willing to pivot on short notice to meet the organization’s needs
  • You are comfortable managing and moving between different tasks
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel) and have experience with Asana or another project management software platform

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the operational and financial health of nonprofits and the investments they need to secure their long-term futures
  • Capturing and sharing data about racial equity in nonprofit finance and funding disparities
  • Offering a look at how funding practices have shifted and the impact on nonprofits’ financial health
  • Demonstrating how nonprofits are contributing to community wealth and well-being
  • NFF is looking for a National Survey Project Manager who is proficient in research and analysis, and who can project manage all the moving parts of this detailed project
  • We will engage a variety of national and local partners in different aspects of this work and are seeking a strong relationship-builder who will take lead on coordination and communication between all relevant parties in an ongoing, consistent, and smooth way
  • In collaboration with internal team members and partners, the National Survey Project Manager will manage and help execute activities through the Survey’s launch period, including development of a project plan, securing vendors, question development, survey testing, partner engagement, survey dissemination, fundraising, and data analysis planning
  • This role may have the option to extend their contract to support survey analysis and results dissemination, through publications, presentations, events, and other channels
  • Lead project management of the 2025 State of the Nonprofit Sector Survey, ensuring a successful process throughout each stage, from ideation to execution to dissemination and promotion
  • Develop and own a detailed timeline/project plan in Asana, our project management platform
  • Manage meetings and communications across internal staff, community partners, and vendors, including sharing content, getting and synthesizing input, getting approvals, and ensuring that all stakeholders are being kept up-to-date on decisions
  • Manage the Survey project budget, including proposing adjustments based on vendor contracts, implementation decisions, and fundraising
  • Manage NFF’s survey outreach approach and liaise with internal staff and community partners;
  • Manage relationships with vendors for Survey-related items; this may include drafting RFPs and contracts the RFP, communicating input, tracking payments for vendors, etc
  • Coordinate with NFF’s Development team on fundraising status and funder relationship management; participating in conversations with funders
  • Support Survey question development, including collecting and synthesizing input and feedback from staff and partners
  • Edit materials and ensure that all input has been incorporated as appropriate
  • Support with light survey-related writing (e.g., drafting emails about the Survey to go to partners or others)
