The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a General Counsel for our JLL Technologies platform. The position will provide strategic legal counseling to internal product, operations, and client-facing teams to identify and mitigate global legal risk. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing legal team in an exciting, fast-paced tech-focused environment.

This strategic leadership role is based in our downtown San Francisco, CA (work on-site in office 2+ days per week) and reports to JLL’s Global Chief Legal Officer while serving as the chief legal advisor to the CEO and executive team of JLL Technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze products, policies, and initiatives to provide legal risk mitigation strategies across the JLL Technologies platform.
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor and point of contact to the global JLL Technologies executive leadership team.
  • Lead a team of six lawyers and two paralegals.
  • Serve as a member of JLL legal Executive team providing strategic leadership of JLL’s Legal & Compliance function.
  • Provide effective guidance to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk exposure, taking into consideration both financial and reputable business impacts.
  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to senior management on all legal based matters across the global JLL business.
  • Assist the Global Chief Legal Officer to embed and maintain effective internal governance policies and processes related to legal compliance in all countries that we operate in.
  • Work to anticipate legal issues or potential risks to the business, estimating risks and making appropriate strategic recommendations.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and proactively making recommendations for policy changes required to protect the JLL Technologies businesses.
  • Establish position and effectively negotiate with external parties where required on legal-based business matters.
  • Work with the business to protect the Intellectual Property of the JLL Technology division.
  • Provide training to the business in relation to legal and risk issues.
  • Ensure that the Company’s compliance programs are effective.
  • Help her/his team prioritize and focus on impactful high value contributions as well as eliminate low-risk tasks and work efficiently.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 8+ years of legal experience—at law firm or in-house corporate experience.
  • Experience working in a data-driven environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating with and leading cross-functional teams to get the job done.
  • Experience managing diverse high functioning teams.

Estimated total compensation for this position:

550,000.00 – 650,000.00 USD per year.

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
