Purpose:
The Junior Accountant will be an essential part of the Finance Team which will be responsible for performing various accounting and administrative duties. This individual will be responsible for coding fuel invoices for payment processing, preparing the weekly fuel invoicing spreadsheet, filing monthly landing reports, and reviewing employee expense reports for payment processing. In addition, the Junior Accountant will be required to contact fuel vendors in order to resolve issues, as well as be required to monitor and request changes within the fuel system as necessary. Additionally, he/she will be required to perform month-end close duties such as journal entry preparation and other special projects that may arise during the close period. The Junior Accountant will be a member of the ATI Finance Team and as such, confidentiality, sensitivity, attention to detail, and professionalism are essential ingredients of performance.
Job Functions:- Print, review, and code invoices from fuel vendors. Resolve issues and provide payment information such as remittances and open invoice statements for all fuel vendors.
- Monitor fuel uplift data in flight system extracts and request changes within the fuel system to Ops Corrections department as necessary.
- Prepare weekly fuel spreadsheet for invoicing fuel back to Amazon.
- Generate and file all month end landing reports to the applicable government agencies. Prepare all self-assess payment requests. Reconcile vendor invoices received for correct rates and activity and prepare payment form for approval.
- Review all non-crew expense reports for accuracy and completeness daily. Return all incorrect or incomplete reports back to managers/employees stating reason for denial. Forward all complete reports to corporate Accounts Payable for process within establish due dates.
- Assist with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department.
Position Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Accounting/Finance or 3 years relevant work experience.
- Must possess basic math skills, the ability to analyze figures, and knowledge of accounting principles.
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, Access, and Word reQuired.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, maintain a strong work ethic, and promote a cooperative work atmosphere.
- Must be able to function independently and effectively in a self-directed environment. Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
Preferred Job Skills:
- Experience with accounting software (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Experience with flight data and/or inventory programs (Lufthansa, Maintenix, etc.)
- BS in Accounting/Finance or in pursuit of such degrees would be a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Employees are regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
