Your Role and Responsibilities
- Has a degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene (Bachelors or Masters) with professional knowledge and ability to:
- Recognize and properly evaluate potential occupational hazards.
- Design comprehensive employee health, safety and health risk-management controls. Potential areas of focus may include chemical safety, laboratory safety, mechanical safety, electrical safety, ergonomics, material handling, contractor & construction safety, fire/life safety, and IH exposure assessments.
- Effectively works with other support organizations and senior line management and assists both employees and managers to understand and measure the value of proactive employee well-being programs.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Occupational Safety or Industrial Hygiene Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Clear understanding of Occupational Health & Safety legal/regulatory standards.
- Ability to apply safety and/or Industrial Hygiene principles within a highly complex scientific research setting.
- Capability for interpretation of H&S legislative requirements and/or scientific results from employee exposure data into legal/regulatory adherence and design of occupational H&S controls to protect IBM and non-IBM workers.

- Effectively uses a variety of advanced, scientific techniques to evaluate the work environment.
- Develops, implements and maintains major programs and processes to assist line management.
- Defines goals and technical direction as a member of a multi-functional team. Ensures appropriate coordination with related functions.
- Develops, implements and maintains high quality programs, evaluating existing processes and implementing continual improvement.
