As a Director of Surgical Services, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our surgical department and advancing patient care in the community.
As the Director of Surgical Services, you will oversee the perioperative department, focusing on delivering safe, high-quality patient care while effectively managing departmental operations. This role comes with 24/7 responsibility for the surgical services department and requires a leader who can identify challenges, implement solutions, and foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the surgical services department, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Identify and address potential problems, implementing solutions and ensuring follow-through.
- Participate in hospital-wide committees, representing the department and maintaining communication.
- Enhance the customer experience within Surgical Services.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and development plans for subordinates, documenting performance.
- Adhere to all Human Resource policies and communicate key information to the staff.
- Promote evidence-based employee engagement practices and build strong relationships to meet organizational goals.
- Oversee the development and evaluation of a comprehensive surgical services program.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies regarding patient and personnel safety.
- Monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care through a Performance Improvement (PI) program.
- Manage department operations, ensuring quality service delivery in line with professional standards.
- Enforce procedural site and patient verification policies.
- Support new program strategies that expand patient services and promote departmental growth.
- Handle fiscal management, ensuring proper utilization of resources and advocating for capital equipment needs.
- Build internal and external strategic networks to position the OR as the provider of choice for all stakeholders.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care management experience as an OR RN.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required (due to Magnet Hospital status).
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on patient safety and operational excellence.
- Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR).
- Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM).
