OPENING ON THIRD SHIFT (10:00 P.M. - 6:00 AM)

STARTING PAY:  $16.10/HOUR (PROGRESSING TO $18.50/HOUR) PLUS $1.00/HOUR SHIFT PAY 

Drive forklift truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move raw paper materials and in process products and finished products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory.  May load and unload semi trailer trucks.  Maintain accurate inventory and report any discrepancies.  Delivers paper and carbon to/from presses or other machinery. May load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.  Perform safety checks on lifts.  May lubricate truck, recharge batteries, fill fuel tank, or replace liquefied-gas tank.  Responsible for inventory control, tracking and reporting inventory utilizing a materials management system.  May organize and assign storage space utillized in warehousing and moving materials in the departments.  May train new team members.

Greater knowledge and skill than Hoist Operator 1 in the handling of controls for driving fork lift and/or clamp trucks.   Must be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backings, and driving fork lift trucks through narrow aisles in building, up and down ramps, and in and out of trucks, etc.; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls.  Must know how high, wide, and long the fork lift truck and what its loads are, and how much the fork lift truck can lift.  Good special ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the fork lift truck and its load; how high and wide the shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin.  Must be able to recognize whether the fork lift truck is able to lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced.  Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions.  Skilled in moving fork lift trucks about in places where there is very little room to stack or remove loads.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  Hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety toe shoes required constantly.

ATTENDANCE:  Punctual, regular attendance is an essential job function of employment with RR Donnelley. Overtime, including weekend work, is considered a condition of employment.

Required Skills

EDUCATION LEVEL - Equivalent to high school

MATERIAL HANDLING:  Must be able to operate stand up and sit down forklifts, clamp trucks, etc. in a safe manner without damaging facilities, incoming materials or outgoing product.

REASONING:  Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

MATHEMATICS:  Able to use arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages. Must be adept at weights and measures.

LANGUAGE:  Reading – Able to follow work instructions and recognize most words used in daily work processes. Able to read instructions for assembling equipment. Able to communicate through writing compound and complex sentences, using proper punctuation and employing adjectives and adverbs.

Able to operate a computer at a basic to intermediate level.

Must be able to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Required Experience

SPECIFIC VOCATIONAL PREP: Over 6 months up to 1 year

Previous experience in a printing environment preferred.

Previous experience with monitoring inventory of raw materials.

6-12 months previous experience working in a manufacturing environment required.

6-12 months previous experience operating lift/hoist trucks required.  Current certification preferred.

Some experience in the operation of various hand tools.
