This position requires working closely with one individual daily in both the Adult Training Facility and Residential environments. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. The work involves providing the individual with direct supervision and facilitating vocational skills training, life skills training, and social behaviors during the individual's daily routine. In addition, the job will include assisting with off-campus job sites to support the individual participating in competitive employment. The following is a list, not an al inclusive list, of duties for which the Job Coach is responsible.
Requirements

  • Working in collaboration with the team to develop training programs and strategies to teach new life skills and further current abilities in the areas of vocational skills, safety skills, daily living skills, self-management, and leisure.
  • Implementing and documenting progress in all training areas using individualized methods daily.
  • Implementing goals and procedural objectives based on programs developed.
  • Working with the team to develop appropriate daily routines, safety routines, strategies, and judicious positive reinforcement of adaptive behaviors.
  • Working with the team and Psychology to develop and implement individualized programs to decrease identified challenging symptoms and behaviors.
  • Providing information to Psychiatry to assist in the management of Psychiatric interventions.
  • Attending and participating in IPP meetings.
  • Providing and maintaining communication with the QIDP, Day Program Specialist and Instructor, House Supervisor, and outside agency supervision as applicable to ensure consistent support and appropriate programming for the individual.
  • Assisting with off-campus job duties when appropriate.
  • Assisting with educating peers to work with individual during "off" times.
  • Attending in-service training sessions.
  • Always functioning as the individual's advocate.
  • Attending and working with individuals when scheduled for EA or other work programs as appropriate.
  • Assisting with coverage of the care of the other individuals in the home on an "as needed basis".
  • Accompanying individual with off-campus trips, recreational trips, and doctors' appointments.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work the hours of 6 am - 2:30 pm: Mon thru Fri
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and techniques for training and interacting with developmentally/physically challenged individuals preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work with one individual who may exhibit non-compliant behavior.
  • Must have good analytical skills and good writing skills.
  • Must have patience, self-motivation, and the capability of learning skills to address non-compliant behavior.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
Minimum Training and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Ability to successfully complete offered training.
  • Must have all required clearances. Must maintain all required certifications.
Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Abilities to lift and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds independently, bend and stretch as needed, see, hear, speak, write, push, pull, climb, twist, reach, and possess manual dexterity.
