Principal Engineer – Multimodal Transportation Design (Boston, MA)

Join our Boston team as a Principal Engineer and lead a dynamic group in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects that prioritize people over cars.

As a Principal Engineer, you'll oversee the final design and construction plan development for projects ranging from urban roadway reconstructions to scenic trail systems. You’ll manage all phases of design, lead multidisciplinary teams, and collaborate with clients to deliver projects that improve transportation for all. You'll also contribute to business development and play a key role in maintaining our firm’s high-quality standards.

What you'll bring:

  • PE License in MA (additional Northeast states a plus)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in construction document development and/or public agency construction administration
  • 5+ years in project and/or design management
  • Expertise in roadway, drainage, geometric design, and 3D modeling of accessible public spaces
  • Proven track record of managing large, complex projects on time and within budget
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including coordination of utilities, right-of-way impacts, street lighting, and traffic signals
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and experience with transportation permitting
  • A passion for multimodal and active transportation design, with interest in business development
