About the Job:

We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join the talented Dumore Engineering team. The position will initially be in the office 100% of the time, with the option to transition to a hybrid work-from-home/office after appropriate training and orientation. The primary purpose of this position is to design electro-mechanical products, while meeting or exceeding company production and quality standards, and meeting customer delivery requirements.


Essential Duties:

  • Design electro-mechanical products (PMDC motors, BLDC motors, universal motors and gearboxes), meeting engineering standards, applicable codes, customer specifications, and within cost constraints. Verify that designs meet or exceed all requirements and specifications.
  • Thoroughly understand and use the Dumore Quality Plan in all phases in the engineering department.
  • Work and lead with cross-functional teams to take a design from specification through design, development, test, and delivery.
  • Review and develop technical specifications for all Dumore products. Creates part numbers and structured bills of material in the MRP system. Experience using ERP/MRP software is a plus.
  • Perform detailed technical analyses and create test and analysis reports.
  • Develop technical solutions to known production, reliability, or performance problems.
  • Generate and review design documentation to ensure the delivery of a quality finished product.
  • Facilitate design reviews with Design Engineering, Production, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to determine if project goals including cost, manufacturability, time limitation, and resource requirements can be met.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
  • Redesign standard products, improving quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
  • Work with quality assurance and production to determine root cause analysis and corrective action for product related issues and warranty returns.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical (BSEE) or Mechanical (BSME) required. Prefer courses in product management and product development.
  • 3 years of electric motor and/or gear experience required. Prefer 6 years experience.
  • Prior experience in the development and testing of DC motors, as well as in-line, right-angle, and planetary gear motors required. Prefer experience in the field of PMDC, Universal, and/or BLDC motors and gear motors.
  • Fluent working knowledge of Solid Works, AutoCAD, and MS Office required. Prefer experience using ERP/MRP.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and detailed product drawings; respond to common inquires or requests from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write reports for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; effectively present information to top management and conduct customer presentations.
  • Requires the ability to apply all general mathematical concepts such as calculus, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to utilize advanced engineering design software for performance and design integrity analysis required.
  • Must possess a high level of mechanical and electrical aptitude and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
