174 Power Global has set out to have Chariot Energy become one of the leading energy retail providers (by RCE count) within 5-years of Chariot Energy’s launch.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Head of Energy Analytics will be responsible for building and operating Chariot Energy’s proprietary analytics platform that covers all retail, wholesale and generation activities. The retail activities include product structuring, pricing, churn analytics and margin analysis. Valuation of tolling arrangements, generation assets and structured transactions are part of wholesale and generation activities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team of highly analytical and quantitative talent. The candidate will possess a thorough understanding of Ercot fundamental trends, market structure/operations and forward market including strong expertise on Zonal and Nodal basis drivers.

This position is in Houston, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to the Houston office location. The position will be located out of the Chariot Energy Houston office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Single point of responsibility for all day-to-day activities of the Energy Analytics team.
  • Ownership of all models and inputs within the company’s analytics platform Blue Waters including the proprietary AI/ML models.
  • The models cover a wide range of applications including retail pricing, structured transactions, weather derivatives, load forecasting, CRR/FTR bidding, generation dispatch and asset valuation.
  • Develop and administer the marking process for all the illiquid or non-tradable retail price curves including ancillary curves, implied hourly scalers and scarcity premiums.
  • Work closely with the finance team to build and maintain the framework needed to help explain supply related drivers impacting forward and settled retail gross margins.
  • Create and deliver Supply related management presentations, contract executions and project management activities that are focused on Energy Analytics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering, Economics, Finance or other equivalent.
  • Advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Retail Energy industry, with at least 5 years in roles focused on energy analytics.
  • In-depth knowledge of the wholesale electricity markets, with a deep understanding of commodity and energy trading.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data analytics for decision making and familiarity with latest AI/ML modeling techniques.
  • Strong oral/written skills to be able to communicate complex analytical concepts to the executive team.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with capability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience in vendor management, including negotiation and performance assessment.
  • Eligible to work in the USA for any employer without sponsorship.

$180,000 - $270,000 a year
