About the job CNC Machinist (5-axis)
We are in search of a seasoned Mill Operator with experience in 5-axis machining, operating, and programming 5-axis CNC mills. This position is for a premier client located in the South Suburbs. Specializes in military & Defense contracts.
1st shift: 5:30 am - 4 pm. Mon-Thurs (Off Friday)
2nd shift: 3:30 pm - 2 am Mon-Thurs (Off Friday) + (15% differential)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and program 5-axis CNC mills and 3-axis machines
  • Fully program from solid models and edit programs
  • Ability to interpret GD&T on drawings
  • Ability to read and understand sketches, & blueprints.
  • thorough understanding of tools and proper use of fixtures.
  • Set up and operate one or more CNC lathes to turn parts.
  • Ability to program, manage files, edit as needed, to machine parts to size per print.
  • Set up equipment according to specifications on the product blueprint, with little or no supervision.
  • Select proper programs, fixtures, tooling, drills, and inserts as needed.
  • Adjust controls to vary the depth of cut, RPM, and rate of feed efficiently.
  • Ability to polish and maintain size and finish per print.
  • Verify conformance of work to specification using gauges, micrometers, and other inspection equipment
  • Maintain an accurate count and record production pieces and hours of production.
  • Maintain product handling, to protect product from damage.
  • Keep equipment and products free of FOD, Foreign Object Debris
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating and programming 5-axis CNC mills and 3-axis machines
  • Proficient in programming from solid models and editing programs
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret drawings
  • Familiarity with measuring tools and techniques
  • Ability to work with exotic aerospace materials
  • Experience with running multiple machines at the same time
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
