Job Description:
The Logistics Technician will assist the Logistics Supervisor to maintain high-performance objectives for all departmental standards including safety, timeliness, quality/accuracy, security, and productivity. The Technician also serves as a mentor to the team. The Technician will be expected to work proactively on multiple tasks with minimal or no supervision.
Work schedule is 8 hours, 1st shift and or possible modified 1st shift to support late afternoon shipments. Overtime work may be needed periodically.
Responsibilities:

- Safely and efficiently perform assigned processes to meet the required daily logistics activities.
- Create an environment that fosters team and individual empowerment.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and promote a safe work environment.
- Provide on-shift technical/process subject matter expertise.
- Enhance shift skills and knowledge through coaching on process for logistics.
- Work with Logistics Supervisor or Logistics Lead to ensure proper training and integration of new team members.
- Certified in 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
- Retain good standing certification in 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
- Ensure all work processes and work instructions are followed.
- Ensure all Environmental, Safety and Health standards and regulations are met or exceeded (OSHA).
- Ensure all technicians wear the required PPE for the task at hand.
- Maintain proper inventory levels of packaging and shipping supplies.
- Act as the first responder for equipment, process and general logistics issues.
- Facilitate forklift operations to load and unload carrier trucks.
- Initiates and administers ongoing safety programs.
- Assist with customer and/or supplier deliveries.
- Complete annual personal goals to support achievement of site goals and complete personal development goals to support career development.
- Archive all shipping related documents in ERP Report Archive.
- Ensure accuracy of all transactions within ERP to guarantee operational efficiency.
- Ensure accuracy of all federal filings (AES, etc.) to avoid regulatory repercussions (fines, commercial penalties, etc.)
- Schedule vessel shipments in time to meet required shipping dates for on time order fulfillment.
- Establish and maintain a strong relationship with other departments as needed on logistics processes/ quality issues.
- Act as a backup to the Logistics Lead in the weekly production meeting to align logistics activities received with the site’s weekly needs.
- Train Logistics Technicians on all Cylinder Handling functions and ERP programs.
- Assist in tracking important logistics/supply chain KPI Metrics.
- Assist in SOP and WI revisions as needed.
- Monitor outgoing shipping requests to ensure on time shipping RM canisters, non-standard orders, and special requests as necessary.
- Train Logistics Technicians on cylinder, canister defect/damage identification for signs of failure or leakage, to ensure the overall safety of warehouse/plant personnel.
- Ensure all documentation including pictures of outgoing shipments are completed and archived.
- Must be flexible and be able to work overtime hours when needed.
- Required to complete all assigned training successfully and on time.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
- Ensure that no alarms or interlocks are bypassed.
- Comply with all company safety policies and MSDS Standards.
- Perform all required trainings as they are assigned.
- Ability to roll cylinders- Rolling cylinders requires an individual to tilt a cylinder slightly with one hand, and use the other hand to move the cylinder forward by rolling it.
- Fitness for duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50 pounds and have the ability to climb ladders.
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma or higher.
- 2-5 years of relevant industry experience in logistics operations (shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory management).
- Experience in filing IMO, AES, and ISF information.
- Experience in working with forwarders to provide clearance information for imports as well as exports.
- Ability to follow all work instructions and safety protocols.
- Ability to understand the properties and hazards associated with chemicals and compressed gases.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Prepare and confirm all shipping orders through ERP/ Ross.
- Must be a quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain focus and adapt to a variety of challenges.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow directions to meet deadlines.
- Proven record of good written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Computer literate with Google Docs, Sheets, & Slides.
- Valid Driver license with Good Driving Record.
- Must be able to move around a large warehouse for 8 or more hours in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Must be able to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Significant manual dexterity for keying in data for long periods of time.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
