Organization: The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) is a grassroots community development organization with over 45 years of experience in empowering Boston residents. We work to amplify the voices of those excluded from economic prosperity and transform the lives of local families. To date, JPNDC has developed 22 projects that include over 900 homes and 158,000 square feet of commercial space, benefiting a range of people including first-time homebuyers, families, elderly, disabled, and formerly homeless individuals. Our portfolio supports over 50 local businesses, many of which are independent and minority-owned.

This role offers an opportunity to work directly with residents in Roxbury, Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain, providing a hands-on introduction to affordable housing.

Position: Associate Asset Manager (Part-Time)

As the Associate Asset Manager, you will assist the Asset Management Coordinator in ensuring that residents of our 748 affordable housing units live in quality housing that respects their dignity. This is a field-based role with direct interaction with residents of all ages, abilities, and English proficiency levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and input data for property analysis.
  • Assist with Property Management Apps, training and supporting JPNDC staff who interact with tenants on the use of work order and rent collection apps.
  • Coordinate with property managers to resolve app-related issues.
  • Develop training materials for both residents and staff, and introduce residents to the apps.
  • Assist in coordinating information flow between the RAMP Program Manager, property managers, and JPNDC staff.
  • Coordinate community room bookings and schedules.
  • Update tenant information such as rent and mobile vouchers.
  • Assist in preparing for board meetings of ownership entities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Asset Management team or VP of Real Estate.

What It Takes to Be Successful:

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, especially in setting expectations and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and track deadlines across various teams.
  • Proficient in Excel, Smartsheet, or Googlesheets, with a willingness to learn new software.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.

Characteristics:

  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Determination and perseverance to handle multifaceted projects.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and streamlining processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with people from diverse ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in customer service or handling challenging situations is essential.

Work Environment: This is a part-time, in-person role with flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends, as well as frequent site visits.

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate: $20/hour
  • Expected hours: 10-19 hours/week
