IBM Brand Sales Specialist - Storage Brand Specialist (Public Market) in San Francisco, California

Introduction

As a Brand Sales Specialist for Public Market (SLED), you will collaborate closely with clients and Business Partners to develop relationships, understand needs, earn trust, and show potential clients how IBM's industry-leading solutions will solve their problems while delivering value to their business.

You will run a territory consisting of public entities such as cities, towns, state governments, and universities. A typical day for a SLED seller would include:

  1. Collaborative Ecosystem Engagement: Collaborating with the broader sales ecosystem to develop campaigns and boost pipeline growth.
  2. Client Management & Value Communication: Managing clients and effectively communicating IBM's value.
  3. Decision Maker Engagement: Identifying decision makers, qualifying opportunities, and establishing partnerships.
  4. Sales Process Leadership: Overseeing the complete sales process, with a focus on new business.
  5. Event Coordination: Attending and coordinating events that may be exclusive to entities within the Public Market.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  1. Engaging Clients: Actively interact with clients to understand their needs, provide solutions, and build strong relationships.
  2. Prospecting: Identify and pursue potential clients by conducting market research, networking, and leveraging existing leads.
  3. Progressing Deals: Guide clients through the sales pipeline, ensuring smooth transitions and addressing any concerns or obstacles that may arise.
  4. Understanding the IBM Portfolio: Develop an in-depth understanding of IBM's products and services, including data and AI solutions, cloud offerings, and storage solutions.
  5. Sales Role: Perform sales activities such as pitching products, negotiating terms, and closing deals to meet revenue targets.
  6. Partner Collaboration: Collaborate with partners to scale and accelerate sales opportunities, leveraging their expertise and resources.
  7. Strategic Communication: Articulate IBM's strategy effectively to clients, highlighting the value proposition and competitive advantages across various solutions.
  8. Specialization in Storage Solutions: Demonstrate expertise in selling storage solutions, drawing on past experience and knowledge of industry trends.
  9. Competitor Analysis: Stay informed about competitors' offerings, strengths, and weaknesses to position IBM solutions effectively in the market.
  10. Experience in Public Market: Utilize your experience in the public market to tailor sales strategies and approaches to different client segments effectively.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Multiple years of Enterprise Sales experience.
  2. Experience with IBM, Dell EMC, Hitachi, HP, PURE, or any other vendor solution sales.
  3. Experience with account management and working with business partners.
