A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Field Sales Trainer is responsible for partnering with the Sr. Manager, Commercial Training and the Area Sales Director in their assigned geography to create and deliver comprehensive sales training programs for the field sales team. This role focuses on analyzing and improving current programs, developing materials and training curriculum, conducting training sessions, deploying sales enablement tools/capabilities and supporting on-the-job coaching to improve quota attainment and overall team performance.
- Assists in creating sales training materials, including presentations, manuals, videos, and e-learning modules by utilizing the following programs: Articulate, Microsoft Suite, Adobe, and Asana.
- Delivers New Hire Orientation training and Phase One Sales Training for new hires.
- Contributes to the development and delivery of training content for the Territory Manager Pathway Program.
- Creates and delivers ongoing upskilling training for the field sales team through various formats, such as workshops, videos, and podcasts and other channels.
- Conducts field rides with Territory Managers and Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialists to gather best practices and provide on-the-job coaching to improve quota attainment.
- Partners with sales and marketing leaders to ensure alignment of training programs with product portfolio and market dynamics.
- Measures the effectiveness of training programs through reports and comprehensive analysis and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Strategically aligns course objectives, content, and workshops to deliver marketing and sales objectives.
- Collaborates with product managers, marketing leadership, and clinical leadership to incorporate new products, messaging, and content into programs and courses.
- Supports strategic planning for the department, including headcount, budgeting, training, and systems requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of the diabetes disease state and the complex healthcare environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with employees, patients, referral sources, and healthcare professionals.
- Skilled at creating and delivering presentations and training sessions to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work with Sales Leadership teams to develop and coach sales initiatives.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Creative thinking and keen attention to detail in developing training materials.
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization and foster a cooperative team environment.
- Bachelor degree in a life science business or marketing; or combination of equivalent education and applicable job experience.
- 5 plus years of professional sales experience, with 3 years experience in diabetes medical devices preferred.
- Proven ability to deliver sales training initiatives which drive sales results with at least one year of sales training experience highly desired.
- Experience in creating and delivering training programs, including virtual and blended learning formats.
- Familiarity with adult learning and instructional design philosophies, strategies, and theories.
- Experience in any or all of the following areas are preferred: diabetes, endocrinology, insulin infusion pumps, and managed care.
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM programs is required.
- Ability to travel at least 80% in your assigned territory; must maintain a valid driver’s license and required auto insurance as well as good driving record per company policy.

The starting base pay range for this position is $115,000 - $165,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (starting in year 1) and have access to a 401k plan with company match.
