Ultimate Staffing is seeking a Design Engineer for one of our Manufacturing Clients in St. Louis, MO. This is a direct hire full time position which requires 100% onsite.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Design Engineer is responsible for designing new tooling, overseeing CAM operations, and providing comprehensive support for tube fabrication and assembly processes. The role involves analyzing and addressing quality and process control issues in existing production and introducing new processes to enhance quality and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Project Management:

- Design dies, fixtures, weld jigs, and processes using 3D CAD software.

- Develop and maintain build documentation, including prints and bills of materials (BOM).

- Purchase necessary materials and components.

- Program components for fabrication using 3D CAM software.

- Support fabrication practices, including the implementation of new cutting tools.

- Assist in the assembly and implementation of tooling.

2. Support for Tube Fabrication and Assembly:

- Provide assistance across all departments as needed, ensuring smooth operations in tube fabrication and assembly.

3. Production and Maintenance Support:

- Utilize problem-solving skills to support production and maintenance teams.

- Set up machines and verify parts during production.

- Collaborate with outside vendors to resolve issues and optimize processes.

- Address inquiries from the sales department and product managers.

- Assist with sales calls, repair jobs, and customer visits as required.

4. Support Company Goals:

- Uphold professional standards of conduct when interacting with superiors, colleagues, and production personnel.

- Maintain the care and upkeep of manufacturing equipment, physical grounds, and departmental office equipment.

- Manage business interactions with internal and external contacts, demonstrating resourcefulness, tact, and a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures.

- Safeguard confidential information related to manufacturing know-how, patents, and other sensitive data, in accordance with company policy.

Employment Standards:

- Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in metal tube fabrication and welded assemblies is preferred.

- Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing techniques. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in manufacturing. Proficiency in 3D CAD/CAM software, preferably Autodesk Inventor and FeatureCAM.

- Skills: Ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Effective time and resource management to ensure timely project completion. Systematic approach to problem-solving.
