Job Requirements / Description

The Story Editor will work with reporters from across the CTS Station Group to ensure they are relevant for a national audience and appropriate for the CBS 24/7 national stream shows. Develop and evaluate story ideas, with an emphasis on ground-breaking enterprise journalism and strong storytelling. Approve scripts, assist with re-writes and provide production ideas. Collaborate with executive producers and news producers on placement of stories. Help set and achieve high standards for news content.

Requirements:

This job requires an individual who combines excellent news judgment, writing and editing ability, imagination and strong management skills. The Story Editor must be able to work closely with reporters to improve story conception, execution and story-telling skills. Previous experience in broadcast news management with direct reporter oversight is a necessity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven success in a leadership role
  • Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines
  • Available for early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays

This position will be covered under the WGAE streaming agreement.

Hiring Salary Range: $155,000.00 - 176,657.25.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
