Are you passionate about ensuring safety on large-scale construction projects? Join the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) as a Safety Manager and play a key role in overseeing safety across multiple construction sites throughout the district. You’ll have the opportunity to lead compliance efforts, implement safety protocols, and make an impact on significant public works projects that serve the community.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and enforcing safety standards across various construction projects to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and LACCD safety policies. Working closely with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams, you will perform safety inspections, report on safety compliance, and ensure a safe working environment across all project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide management oversight on construction activity across multiple projects, ensuring full compliance with OSHA and LACCD safety regulations.
  2. Perform daily safety reviews and site inspections, identifying and addressing any potential hazards.
  3. Lead safety discussions in construction meetings and generate comprehensive safety reports for all site visits.
  4. Review safety submittals from contractors and manage the implementation of high-risk operation plans, including fall protection, crane lifts, and confined space entry.
  5. Investigate safety incidents and report findings, while leading safety stand-downs and submitting lessons learned.
  6. Monitor compliance with the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures.
  7. Maintain adherence to zero-tolerance safety policies, performing site orientations for new contractors.
  8. Collaborate closely with the Program Safety Manager and college project teams to ensure all safety measures are met.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Minimum 10 years of construction safety experience, with 5 years managing multiple projects at different stages across various locations.
  2. Field experience working with General Contractors and Subcontractors in a safety consultant capacity.
  3. Familiarity with OCIP and safety management in public sector construction.
  4. Current certifications in OSHA 500 (Trainer), 40-Hour HAZW.
