As the senior manager of the NCR CFR Fuel software engineering team, you’ll be responsible for adding momentum to our efforts to modernize and evolve the industry’s most widely deployed fuel/forecourt management system. You will be hands on and enjoy modernizing and evolving products to sustain our market and technical leadership. You desire to work in a team of passionate developers and love working in an Agile environment, with the objective of creating cloud-native, API-first applications. Your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and leading a team of software engineers within the scope of their projects and performance
  • Delivering projects on-time and communicating it to the team, upper management and stakeholders
  • Contributing and helping lead architecture, design, development and processes efforts with your team – you lead from the front, actively contributing to the product code base and providing a hands-on example for our desired engineering principles
  • Removing roadblocks reported by the team, which could require cross-team collaboration and or escalation, possibly up to executive management
  • Facilitating the right outcomes with data and conviction using diplomacy
  • Maintaining and staying abreast of current technologies and trends
  • Measuring and improving team productivity
  • Maintaining a manner of leadership and flexibility that diffuses pressure and promotes a team atmosphere
  • Assisting in the creation of processes and procedures with input from other development teams
  • Supporting an open, learning, and progressive environment to allow the team's exploration of new solutions
  • Ensuring the right mix of personalities or skills in the project team composition by hiring solid candidates

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in software development, including at least 5 years in a management role
  • Experience in developing with C++
  • Strong understanding of distributed computing and best practices around SaaS
  • Hands on experience developing software with best practices for the full software development life cycle including code reviews and standards, source control management, continuous integration, testing and operations
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills
  • High maturity of diplomacy and ability to see and rationalize multiple points of view
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Getting things done attitude
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background working on highly-available, high-transaction volume, fault-tolerant systems
  • Skill with additional programming languages such as Scala, Go, Clojure, etc.
