Our client is the #1 financial bond trading firm in America. They are looking for a contract Senior Database Engineer – Public Cloud to join their team. Our client is located in Newport Beach but has offices in multiple locations around the US. Their database team is looking for a Senior Database Engineer with strong NoSQL, AWS, Snowflake, and CI/CD experience for a contract-to-hire position. This is a hybrid role local to Newport Beach, CA or Austin, TX.
The right candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, providing both production & development support. This position will work closely with various development groups across the firm and should demonstrate his/her ability as a technical expert on the team.
Contract Duration: 12-Months (Contract-to-Hire)
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ Years of experience as a Database Administrator
- Proficiency in Snowflake architecture, features, and best practices.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with query optimization.
- Knowledge of database security practices and tools.
- Experience with on-prem relational systems; Oracle, SQL Server
- Experience with NoSQL and columnar data stores
- Strong scripting abilities in bash, python
- Experience in version control systems, Git, and CI/CD
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their integration with Snowflake.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Snowflake Core Certification and at least one platform certification or specialty in Public Cloud.
- Proven experience building AWS Infrastructure.
- Experience in Data Migration Strategies to public cloud.
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
- Database Management : Administer and maintain Snowflake databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Performance Tuning : Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and resource management.
- Data Integration : Facilitate data sharing processes to ensure seamless data flow across the organization.
- Security : Implement and manage database security policies, including user access controls, encryption, and data masking.
- Backup and Recovery : Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting : Set up and manage monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve database issues.
- Cost Optimization : Implement strategies to optimize Snowflake usage and costs, including monitoring resource consumption and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaboration : Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to support data-related projects and initiatives.
- Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
