Job Opening: Emergency Management Director

Fall River is currently taking applications for an Emergency Management Director . Duties include (but are not limited to):

1. Organizes and coordinates all emergency management programs for Fall River/Oglala Lakota Counties.
2. Establishes and maintains an up-to-date emergency operations plan (EOP) which includes reviewing, updating, distributing and conducting exercises to test the plan.
3. Coordinates and manages emergency operations through the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
4. Coordinates mutual aid responses and requests; assists in the overall management of emergency response and recovery operations.
5. Organizes training for the member agencies.
6. Organizes and attends operational meetings.
7. Applies for and assists other agencies with the grant application process.
8. Knowledge of modern office procedures, computer and equipment applications.
9. Must acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of emergency management programs, responsibilities, standards, procedures, organization, rules and regulations at the federal, state and local level.
10. College degree or courses desirable, high school diploma or GED certificate necessary.
11. Must possess a valid South Dakota Driver’s License and pass the Emergency Vehicle Operator’s course.
12. Experience in a first responder or related field required, along with certificates of courses taken in the ICS structure.
13. Have one year of experience in emergency management or officer experience in a related field and have experience in map reading and GPS operation to determine elevations, degrees of slope, etc.
