Position: School Age & Summer Camp Program Director
Salary: $52,000.00 - $55,000.00

The YMCA Loudoun is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team as the School Age & Summer Camp Program Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun and positive environment daily! The School Age and Summer Camp Program Director oversees the overall operation of the School Age/Summer Camp program site(s), including curriculum development and delivery, and health and safety of the children.

Some of the exciting things you will do as the School Age & Summer Camp Program Director:

  • The Program Director will manage the daily operations of the afterschool sites during the school year and the day camp programs during the summer.
  • Establish relationships with individual children and families and be responsive to their needs.
  • Ensure all children receive enriching educational programming with a focus on positive experiences and child outcomes.
  • Provide assistance to staff in developing the curriculum that is fortified with meaningful experiences while meeting the needs and interests of the group and individual child.
  • Interview and hire qualified staff. Supervise and provide appropriate orientation and training for staff support and career development.

Qualifications and Skills: We seek a leader with values that align with the Y’s mission:

  • A graduate degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and six months of programmatic experience;
  • An endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and one year of programmatic experience;
  • Forty-eight semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit from a college or university of which 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours are in child-related subjects and one year of programmatic experience;
  • Two years of programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one of the following education backgrounds:
  • A one-year early childhood certificate from a college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills. Must have a solid grasp of budget development, income production, and expense control.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents and committed to working within a diverse population.
