Title of Position: Job Development Specialist, Supportive Housing FLSA Status: Non-ExemptDepartment: Program ServicesReports to: Program DirectorSalary: $25.22/ HrPositions Reporting to the Position: NonePurpose of the PositionThe Job Development Specialist of Supportive Housing is responsible for the successful integration of assessing clients’ job readiness and job development as well as supporting the employment/educational goals of each client to ensure compliance with Win’s and other agency contractual requirements.Responsibilities:Commit to using evidence-based practices (EBP); Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), critical time intervention, and boundary setting, to help clients achieve their goals.Conduct outreach to educate clients on the benefits of the program and to determine their educational and employment goals.Conduct standardized assessments on clients to determine their “work readiness” level.Provide referrals to local job placement resources and job training/placement sources to clients who are job ready.Work with local employers to create a “job bank” of positions which can be filled by program participants.Provide ongoing support to program participants who are employed.Hold semi-annual job fairs to introduce program participants to local employment opportunities.Consult with case manager on a regular basis to track progress of clients in the program.Facilitate and organize employment and education-related workshops for clients to attend.Maintain participant activity records, collect, and assist in analysis of program data.Attend program and agency staff meetings, case conferences, supervisory and in-service training sessions.Assist clients with enrollment into ESL, GED/post-secondary education programs.Other duties and responsibilities identified by the supervisor.Essential Functions:Ability to coach clients in job search and interview skills, local employment market, community resources, and organizations.Ability to develop relationships with external stakeholders.Ability work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and deadlines.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to ascend/descend stairs in the assigned building.Ability to escort clients to appointments and events using public transportation.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field required.Prior experience in job development required. Two (2) years of successful practical experience in job placement and career coaching with adults preferred.Prior experience in training or delivering services to at risk populations required.Experience in leading group activities and developing group curriculum.Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Computer skills and knowledge of AWARDS a plus.Knowledge of homelessness and issues surrounding experiencing homelessness preferred.Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.Core Competencies:Leadership: Sets an example by following Win policies and procedures.
