THE POSITION
This position performs a wide variety of support functions across a broad spectrum of human resources programs for the Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS). Primary responsibilities include serving as an agency Time Advisor; coordinating the Employee Performance Review program; maintaining Official Personnel Files (OPFs); answering e-mails from the HR Resource Account and responding to a variety of inquiries; tracking, reviewing, and logging receipt of a wide variety of documents; and providing ad hoc assistance. This position will also assist the Deputy Executive Director of Administration with general secretarial work on an as-needed basis.
This position is in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, for which the incumbent must maintain permanent Commonwealth residency. The employer will not pay for relocation, housing, or travel expenses. This position is part-time telework optional. You will be required to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg on an occasional schedule.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position acts as an agency time advisor, which includes leave guidance, overtime coding, tracking office closings, and temporary work out-of-class (TWOC) assignments. Will be responsible for the Employee Performance Review Program, tracking due dates, sending notices to supervisors, and working with the Training Officer as needed for corrective action. This employee will also be the Official Personnel File coordinator.

This position is identified as essential (level 2). As such, the incumbent may be required to report to or remain at work when there is a declaration of an office closing, emergency, or disaster. This position has a high level of decision-making responsibility for the agency and/or the incumbent's assigned area and may be involved in discussions during an office closing, emergency, or disaster to determine whether any critical business functions must continue at the time of the declaration. Therefore, this position must be available or reachable by telephone twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth title); or
  • One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
