Job Summary:

In this role, you will serve as a crucial member of our Architectural leadership team with comprehensive oversight of all Little Caesars Enterprises (LCE) software architecture in addition to supporting other entities as required to assist Ilitch Companies. You will have overarching responsibility for setting the strategic direction and defining the principles that shape all software development and technology adoption practices. As a leader in the development organization, you will be responsible for building a culture that inspires technical experimentation and empowers our development teams to make sound technical and architectural decisions. This position will interface with all aspects and levels of the company and franchisee community. You will be accountable for confidential and proprietary information.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform architectural analysis and design for systems spanning Ilitch Companies products and services portfolio.
  2. Partner with various key stakeholders to understand their business goals, identify needs and design solutions to meet those software needs within the business goals.
  3. Document and communicate designs, estimates and implementation plans to program stakeholders including cost, ROI and build vs. buy analyses.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues of the Information Technology team, including architects and technical leads, to evaluate solutions and gain consensus and alignment on technical direction.
  5. Research, design, test and evaluate new technologies and vendor solutions.
  6. Implement POCs and pair with technical leads on implementations.
  7. Maintain an enterprise-wide view of current and future business and application architecture to provide solutions that integrate into the overall architectural vision and strategy.
  8. Evaluate current as-built software and provide direction for improvement.
  9. Develop architectural roadmaps which list the phases of work that need to be completed in effort to take a base architecture to a target architecture.
  10. Interface with all levels of the organization and franchisees to promote collaboration and be a strong advocate for IT processes and strategic plans.
  11. Provide leadership and expertise in the development of standards (software coding, documentation, acceptable 3rd party libraries and frameworks), architectural governance, design patterns, and practices.
  12. Provide code review on solutions being submitted.
  13. Ensure suitable information security is designed throughout the life cycle of the solution.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Minimum of ten (10) to twelve (12) or more years of technical leadership and architecture experience in software development.
  2. Minimum of six (6) to eight (8) + years of experience designing and delivering large scale distributed systems (ideally using modern SOA patterns and REST).
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  4. Proven leader with high energy, confidence, and demonstrated ability to influence others.
  5. Solid understanding of security/access control, scalability, high availability and concurrency patterns.
  6. Flexibility and creativity in solution design - including leveraging emerging technologies.
  7. Evidence of well-developed verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  8. Ability to clearly explain and justify ideas when faced with competing alternatives.
  9. Ability to communicate and apply common architectural design patterns across a wide range of technical problems.
  10. Prior experience with at least one major IaaS and/or PaaS technology (Azure, OpenStack, AWS, Heroku, etc.).
  11. Prior experience with relational and non-relational database technologies (MongoDB, Cassandra).
  12. Prior experience with agile development, continuous delivery, and DevOps.
  13. Strong understanding of infrastructure and related technologies (hardware, virtualization, networking).
  14. Proficient in at least one static OO language (.net, C#, Java).
  15. Proficient in at least one dynamic language (JavaScript, Python, Node.js a plus).
  16. Proficient in current development tools (Visual Studio, Eclipse, Git, SVN).
  17. Demonstrated relationship building and effective communication skills through active listening, sharing ideas, and frequent communication with various IT teams, co-workers, clients, and technical and business functions.
  18. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, execution and managing project plans.
  19. Demonstrated skills in financial and technical data to forecast and prepare annual budgets and diagnose business strengths and opportunities.
  20. Evidence of analytical skills in the development and modification of written procedures, processes, and technical support knowledge base tailored to a variety of audiences.
