Zalkin is seeking a talented Regional Sales Manager to maintain current and generate new sales with the goal of building long term customer relationships and increasing revenue. This position contributes to the success of the organization by proactively developing leads, establishing, maintaining excellent customer’s relations, and selling capping machinery and cap handling systems within a defined territory at a level which increases the profitability of that region. This position reports to the VP of Sales.

  • Promote and sell Zalkin capping machinery, solutions, capabilities, and service support and establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base. This includes development and execution of a regional penetration plan.
  • Work cross-functionally across key accounts to identify key influencers, define gaps in products or services, and develop and implement the necessary tools to capitalize on opportunities
  • Prospect, develop, and follow up on new accounts and maintain existing account relations in an ethical and profitable manner.
  • Perform lead generating activities, i.e. prospect, visit, call, email, attend conferences and tradeshows, network within the industries, etc.
  • Follow up on company-supplied leads in less than 24 hours
  • Use Salesforce CRM to document all sales activity and to update opportunity status throughout the sales cycle
  • Generate 3 month forecasts
  • Work closely with customers to ensure the meeting of all goals, objectives, and customer satisfaction team with company sales agents to increase sales and provide advice on ways to improve sales performance
  • Manage agent(s) in the territory if applicable
  • Develop and communicate sales reports within Zalkin and ProMach
  • Provide collaborative sales assistance to other company sales professionals within ProMach
  • Prepare and present sales proposals and negotiate contracts
  • Achieve annual sales goals as outlined by leadership
  • Develop and attend training and meetings as required by leadership
  • Stay up to date on new technology, market developments, appropriate standard societies, and competitor offerings and keep current on trends from both market and technical standpoints

  • Bachelor’s or technical degree (Engineering/Technical preferred)
  • 8 years minimum of capital equipment sales experience, preferably front of the line equipment such as fillers, cappers, labelers
  • Excellent knowledge of the packaging industry, preferably Food and beverage. Other packaging industry segments such as homecare, personal care, agro chemical are acceptable
  • Understanding and experience of value selling
  • Ability to identify customer needs and match their requirements with company product/solution/services; adaptable and open to change regarding customer solutions and internal company business plan; able to use benchmarking as well as direct experience as a catalyst to drive change and a spirit of continuous improvement
  • Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills
  • CRM experience, Salesforce preferred
  • Ability to travel at least 60% of the time
  • Working experience for international companies is a plus
