Summary
Serves a supportive role in planning community engagement and adult learning in Gallup and McKinley county. Works under the Opportunity Career Center(OCC) principal functioning as a liaison between the school and community. This includes assisting with needs assessments of students, families, businesses, and community stakeholders. Develops and inputs correspondence and data into a computer terminal using various Microsoft Office applications; to inform the public on departmental policies and procedures; and to assist with basic sorting, filing, copying, and/or clerical activities when needed.
Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives general direction and supervision from principal of OCC.
Exercises independent oversight of assigned professional, technical, organizational, and clerical duties related to OCC planning and critical actions.

- Assist and support OCC with planning, organizing, and engagement as assigned by the principal.
- Make visits to businesses, community events, and community partners as needed.
- Maintain a calendar of OCC events, activities, and presentations including, but not limited to, community and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist in preparation of recruitment and marketing events and displays.
- Assist with community advisory board meetings including correspondence, duplication and preparation of materials, attendance confirmation, and follow-up as needed.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings to keep informed of activities and program and gather information to update staff and community.
- Attend after school, evening, and weekend community activities as needed.
- Independently compose and prepare moderately complex letters and memoranda using proper English grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation.
- Ensure all materials are duplicated, posted, mailed and/or electronically distributed appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Basic operations, services, and activities of a school and district system
- Modern office equipment, especially computers and Microsoft Office applications
- Clerical principles and practices
- Local cultures and geographical area
- Identify and respond to sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns and needs, and direct them to the appropriate person or organization.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Participate in the development and administration of OCC goals, objectives, and procedures.
- Prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports.
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of OCC goals.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Understand and respect the cultural diversities, and Native American traditional beliefs and practices, of students and their families within the Gallup-McKinley County School district boundaries.

- State of New Mexico Medical Examiner's Physical - This is a CDL physical. You are not a CDL driver, but the State of New Mexico requires that all liaisons have their physical information put on this physical form (see attachment) and placed in your file. You may request that your primary care doctor fill out the physical form. If you cannot find a doctor to fill out your physical form, you will have to go and see a CDL physical doctor which could cost you $105.00 or more.
- Drug test - Call Alliance of Gallup at (505) 722-9596 to schedule an appointment. The cost of this drug test is covered by the employee and will cost $40.00 or more.
- Activity Driver Pre-Service Training - Contact Ruben Sanchez at (505) 870-7813, to get this completed at no cost to you.
- Defensive Driving Certificate - Again, you can contact Ruben Sanchez to complete this at not cost to you.
- FIRST AID / CPR - Courses are held in the Transportation Department. The fee for this course is $55.00. Contact Transportation at (505) 721-1191 for the time and date of these courses. You may also go online to see what courses are offered in the area. We WILL NOT accept the certificates for courses taken ONLINE .
- Valid New Mexico Driver License.
