Position Summary:
We are looking for a passionate, creative full stack Senior Data Scientist to join Walmart's fraud detection team. You will have the unique opportunity to work with massive business and social data generated by Walmart Inc.'s unparalleled online and offline commerce.

You will be responsible for using cutting-edge machine learning, data mining, and anomaly detection techniques to design and prototype robust, scalable predictive models and analytics solutions. You will be a part of a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Engineers, Product managers, and Business professionals that sit at the intersection of Data Science, Big data, IT infrastructure, and business operations.

About Team:
Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We not only create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites.

What you'll do:

  • Design, build and implement predictive models with high-dimensional, fast moving real-time datasets.
  • Own fraud/abuse risks in a product or segment of a product, be a strategic partner to product development teams, sharing insights and providing recommendations through effective communication and storytelling with data.
  • Use machine learning, deep learning and data mining techniques to develop robust predictive models for anomaly detection such as account takeover (ATO) risk detection, E-Commerce payment fraud detection, return abuse, and Identity risk assessment.
  • Build data visualizations and interactive dashboards for monitoring and sharing business insights internally and externally.
  • Research new methods, tools, and techniques to address complex business problems.

What you'll bring:

  • Technical expertise in machine learning, statistical analytics, and storytelling.
  • Proficient in machine learning and data mining packages in Python.
  • Experience working with large data sets and distributed computing tools (GCP/BigQuery experience preferred).
  • Programming skills in one of the following languages: Java, or JavaScript on a UNIX or Linux platform.

Minimum Qualifications:
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. Option 1 - Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2 - Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
Data science, machine learning, optimization models, Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R. Knowledge of accessibility best practices is also valued.
