Director of Manufacturing

Job Summary:

The Director of Manufacturing will oversee the Manufacturing Division of the company, ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

1. Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of manufacturing employees.
2. Oversees schedules and assignments for the division.
3. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
4. Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and per company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.
2. Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.
3. Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
4. Assists the chief operating officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.
5. Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
6. Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
7. Works with the chief financial officer to develop an operating budget.
8. Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
9. Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; MUST have PCB experience from a contract manufacturer and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
2. Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
3. Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division.
4. Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
5. Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
2. At least ten years of experience in industrial management is required.

Physical Requirements:

1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
3. Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.
4. Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, and squat to maintain equipment.
