We’re searching for a Software Engineer to join Aurora’s Autonomy Software Control team . The Autonomy Control team is responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and verifying the fault-tolerant motion control system of the Aurora Driver with all vehicle platforms. The software engineer works in our control team to design systems which analyze, test, and validate custom real-time embedded systems to an integrity level sufficient for safety-critical operation. The software engineer is responsible for ensuring the rigor of released software, yet also designs tools and processes that improve efficiency of development.

In this role, you will

  1. Develop test infrastructure for a safety-critical, embedded control system that can be tied to the software build process.
  2. Develop software for verification and validation processes.
  3. Work with software/hardware interfaces including embedded system simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle system level testing.
  4. Develop according to ISO-26262 or similar safety-critical systems processes.
  5. Develop in Linux-based environments.

Required Qualifications

  1. 3+ years of software development experience in a regulated, safety critical, or quality managed environment (ie. control systems of automotive, aerospace, or other robotic systems).
  2. 1+ years experience in safety-critical software test and validation for embedded, real-time systems (e.g. ISO-26262, DO-178C).
  3. Strong C++ fundamentals and production level code.
  4. Knowledge of requirements-test traceability and systems engineering best practices.
  5. Knowledge of software analysis, linting, and testing tools.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with modern communication technologies and networking protocols (CAN, BroadR-Reach, Flexray, LIN, TCP and UDP).
  2. Familiarity with verification and validation in an Agile or Continuous Integration based environment.
  3. Familiarity with development in Linux-based environments.
  4. Familiarity with coding in C and/or Python.
  5. Working knowledge of version control systems like Git.

The base salary range for this position is $130K - $195K per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
