The Opportunity

Northern Star currently has a newly created opportunity for an experienced senior systems professional to join our Finance Department in the role of Systems Implementation Project Manager on an initial 12-month contract . Reporting to the Group Manager – Finance , this critical role will lead delivery across the implementation of Northern Star’s new budget and forecasting tool, Anaplan.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead coordination of the Group’s implementation of Anaplan project and associated change management for the Group.
  • Work closely with Northern Star’s Finance Department, Operations, and external implementation partner to ensure the successful implementation and business engagement.
  • Responsible for accurately tracking and internal reporting on project performance to Group Manager - Finance.
  • Responsible for effective engagement with key project stakeholders and assisting the Group Manager – Finance in ensuring risks and potential issues are identified and adequately tracked.
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring and management of external implementation partner ensuring project deliverables are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining regular internal project meetings and associated project management enabling clear project tracking as well as regular communication of project status.
  • Regular site travel may be required.

About you?

With extensive (5+ years) experience in a similar senior systems implementation role, your background has seen you undertake detailed engagement with both users and key business stakeholders to drive a seamless, efficient implementation, with a focus on risk mitigation and ensuring the timely identification & resolution of potential issues, and the escalation of any key decisions to the respective department manager.

The following will also see you set for success in this role:

  • Extensive experience in a similar systems or IT position, overseeing comprehensive systems implementation projects.
  • Hold a Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Project Management, Commerce, or equivalent, along with 5+ years post-grad experience preferably within the mining or manufacturing industry.
  • A working knowledge & understanding of key accounting processes and concepts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively, drive change and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Excellent communication & people skills, with the ability to engage, influence & build effective, functional relationships with key stakeholders.
  • An understanding of mining processes & drivers, along with exposure to the gold mining industry, would be highly regarded.
  • Innovative in thought, with an agile mindset, you possess strong analytical & problem-solving skills, and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Well organised with an excellent attention to detail, you naturally look to manage & mitigate risk.
  • Flexible & adaptable to changing priorities, you multitask effectively and are comfortable in a dynamic, outcome-focused environment.
  • You possess a high level of computer literacy, having worked across multiple systems & platforms.
