The Loan Set Up Technician position supports both the origination and operations functions of residential conventional and government mortgages and provides the highest level of customer service without losing sight of compliance.
The Loan Set Up Technician reports to the SVP Head of Operations. The Loan Set Up Technician works closely with loan officers, loan processors, and closers to assist with meeting the regulatory demands of residential mortgage lending documentation requirements.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for, but not limited to, ordering items such as Fraud guard, appraisals, flood certs, tax transcripts and title searches from third party vendors.
  • Responsible for reviewing information entered in the loan origination system for completeness and accuracy and performing an extensive follow up on loans.
  • Ensure all vendor requests are handled in a timely manner as well as consistently following up until service is completed.
  • Provide clear communication to related parties to obtain necessary and precise corrections with a sense of urgency to avoid any delays in advancing the loan file.
  • Identify errors in loan files and work with management to suggest process improvement, change in procedures and/or training opportunities.
  • Perform other necessary duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to Round Point's commitment to regulatory compliance.
  • Daily pipeline management of loan files through Encompass.
  • Maintain an excellent level of customer service.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements around the application process.
  • Communicate any concerns of a regulatory nature to the Operations Manager.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple departments-originations, underwriting, secondary, processing and closing.
Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of Mortgage Sales and/or Operations experience preferred.
  • Strong organization and time management skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Must have ability to verify all elements of a Uniform Residential Loan Application, credit report, title commitment, tax cert, AUS and mortgage Insurance.
  • Knowledge of conventional and government loan programs.
  • Must be able to maintain awareness of regulation changes- knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training.
  • Proficiency in Encompass software preferred and the ability to readily learn and operate effectively in other business technology applications required.
  • Maintain a level of professionalism when communicating with external parties.
  • Maintain sense of urgency.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple departments-originations, underwriting, secondary, processing and closing.
  • Knowledge of all consumer regulations - RESPA, TILA, TRID, HMDA, ECOA, and all Fair Lending laws.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use independent judgment and discern the practical application of regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
