Department Description
The UCSF Wellness Center for Youth with Chronic Conditions is an innovative new center that partners with patients, families, health care providers, and researchers to create a lifetime of wellness for children and adolescents living with chronic illness. Our center focuses on the co-creation of individualized pathways towards wellness for children with chronic illnesses and their families. We partner with patients over the long haul to provide personalized holistic support - connecting them with wellness services, providing support in the transition from pediatric to adult medical care, and helping them build a community of peers. By embracing a wellness-centered framework for care, we seek to complement what is already available within the traditional medical system, and to address important gaps in empowerment and psychosocial connection.
The Department of Pediatrics is committed to excellence in research, education, and the clinical care of infants, children and young adults. Our dedicated faculty have earned national and international recognition for their accomplishments and receive millions of dollars annually in extramural research funding to advance care for kids.
