Under general supervision, is responsible for performing engineering work and executing varied preparatory work for an engineering work program in a major City department. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. May exercise functional supervision over assigned staff.Work Location 6939 W Loop 1604 N (Northwest Service Center), San Antonio, Texas 78254Work Hours 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - FridayEssential Job FunctionsPerforms the necessary preliminary work for the design and construction of public works projects.Directs subordinate personnel in the performance of all preparatory work (depending on area of assignment).Revises project plans and specifications and legal requirements.Inspects construction in progress for conformance with plans and specifications and makes adjustments when necessary.Coordinates with other divisions, departments, or municipal agencies on projects under design.Meets with consultants on various projects to discuss designs and design problems.Prepares cost estimates and monitors budgets on assigned projects.Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding assigned projects.Provides technical assistance to other divisions and departments.Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.Job RequirementsBachelor's Degree in an engineering field from an accredited college, university, or engineering school approved by a State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and no experience.No substitution for education allowed.Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.Preferred QualificationsCivil Engineering Degree.
