Summary

Internal Title: Senior Scientist I/II
This position will be based at our Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely.

The Biomarker Development group at Novartis Bio Medical Research seeks a Senior Scientist, Imaging Data Management in our Clinical Imaging & Analytics team. This role aims to execute our clinical imaging data strategy to prospectively build raw data assets to drive innovation. The position offers exposure to diverse biomarkers for a comprehensive understanding of patient populations and novel efficacy and safety readouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as stakeholder in our imaging data and analytics infrastructure supporting radiological assessments in clinical trials and research collaborations.
  • Partner with internal imaging experts and radiologists to define imaging infrastructure needs and execute on the strategy.
  • Liaise with imaging CROs and imaging infrastructure partners (internal and external).
  • Develop and implement image ingestion routines as needed to accommodate new data sets.
  • Develop standardized data structures to enable efficient image workflows and additional analyses.
  • Develop and implement internal data governance policies, aligned with senior compliance stakeholders.
  • Participate in partnership with internal and external strategic partners to develop and implement a strategy for AI-based automatization for image QC and analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and academic research partners to help develop innovative imaging readouts (MRI, CT, PET, SPECT).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, biomedical engineering, or computer science required; master’s degree a plus.
  • To be considered at the Senior Scientist I level candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working within an imaging CRO, academic site or life sciences organization as part of multi-center clinical trials in a liaison role strongly preferred or master’s degree plus 3 years experience.
  • To be considered at the Senior Scientist II level candidates must have a minimum of 8 plus years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 5 plus years of experience with a master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated track record of innovative data management solutions preferably across imaging modalities.
  • Must have deep technical knowledge in DICOM format (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, PET and SPECT).
  • Proven ability to work (and lead at the Senior Scientist II level) effectively in a highly matrixed environment, with experience in cross-functional team management.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and independent working style. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and understanding the needs and goals of the broader organization.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and project-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with several teams and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in clinical Radioligand/Radiopharmaceutical Therapy (RLT/RPT) is a plus.
  • Experience with the management of hospital PAC system desired.

Compensation and Benefits Summary:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $92,800 - $139,200/year for the Senior Scientist I and between $102,400 - $153,600/year for the Senior Scientist II; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
