POSITION HOURS AND DAYS VARY.
PAY FOR POSITION:
2024 - 25 SY Certificated Substitute Pay
PER FULL DAY (3.75 hrs>):
Substitute Teachers: $200/day
PER HALF DAY (3.75 hrs
Substitute Teachers: $100/half day
Bethel Schools is seeking certificated counselor/social worker applicants for substitute opportunities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Assistant Director of Human Resources; in addition, will report to school principal building administrator(s)/receive guidance from certificated staff while substituting at specific locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Must hold a valid Washington State ESA certificate as Counselor or Social Worker.
  2. Successful substitute experience preferred.
  3. Preferred knowledge/experience working in areas of: substance abuse prevention/intervention, child abuse, ADD/ADHD, suicide prevention/intervention, violence prevention education (Second Step), parent support and education, and anger management.
  4. Ability to commit to and be flexible within the full long-term substitute assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Follows all plans and other instructions provided by the counselor/social worker and/or school.
  2. Assumes responsibility for duties assigned to the regular counselor/social worker.
  3. Provides support to meet the social, emotional, and physical needs of students - support may include classroom, small group, and individual work.
  4. Fosters a positive attitude and communicates effectively with students, parents, and staff including those from ethnically, culturally, and economically diverse backgrounds.
  5. Works collaboratively within school and district to support all students.
  6. Creates a safe and positive environment to best serve all students.
  7. Utilizes effective human relations and/or communication skills.
  8. Completes necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  9. Demonstrates effective classroom management.
  10. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of research-based best practices.
  11. Is conscientious about equipment, instructional materials, records, and reports.
  12. Remains on duty and available during the professional workday.
  13. Communicates with the regular counselor/social worker, either by telephone and/or in writing.
  14. May support building with master schedule, vocational/career counseling, test administration, attendance, 504s.
  15. If applicable, ability to provide and adhere to the above via remote learning.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
