CBIZ's Compensation practice is currently searching for a talented professional for the position of Compensation Consultant in our St. Louis, MO office. The Compensation Consultant conducts analysis and research in conjunction with other CBIZ consulting professionals to design and develop strategic compensation and total rewards programs that contribute to our clients' success and support their business strategies and objectives.

As a Compensation Consultant, you will be critical in advising and managing clients on compensation strategies, structures, and practices. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance on compensation planning, market analysis, and compliance with regulatory standards. Your goal will be to help clients develop competitive compensation packages that align with their business objectives and attract, retain, and motivate top talent.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Client Management:
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and compensation goals.
    Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring timely and effective communication.
    Provide regular updates to clients on project progress, market trends, and industry best practices.

  • Compensation Strategy and Design:
    Assess and analyze clients' current compensation structures and practices.
    Develop customized compensation strategies and plans that align with clients' business objectives and market conditions.
    Design and implement base salary structures, incentive programs, and other compensation elements.

  • Market Analysis and Benchmarking:
    Conduct market research and competitive analysis to determine appropriate compensation levels.
    Utilize compensation survey data to benchmark positions and recommend salary adjustments.
    Prepare and present comprehensive compensation reports to clients.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure clients' compensation practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
    Advise clients on legal and regulatory issues related to compensation, including wage and hour laws, pay equity, and reporting requirements.

  • Communication and Training:
    Develop and deliver presentations and training sessions to clients on compensation-related topics.
    Create communication materials to help clients effectively convey compensation plans to their employees.
    Provide ongoing support and education to clients on compensation best practices and trends.

  • Project Management and Continuous Improvement:
    Manage compensation projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in compensation management. Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend innovative solutions to clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 years of Compensation experience preferably in Broad Compensation or Executive Compensation
  • Prior experience in compensation consulting or appropriate professional and leadership experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 3 years of experience in related field
  • Achieve professional certifications relative to area of expertise, must have and preserve required licenses
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Presentation skills mandatory
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing within all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
