Summary Statement
The IT Architect of EDI collaborates with Sales, Customer Service, and stakeholders to define and implement EDI solutions across Pregis business units. The role is focused on qualifying partners where EDI solutions are appropriate, implementing said solutions, and supporting them once live. Related technology selection, project execution, and management of IT resources (internal and external team members, budgets, and vendors) will be required as part of the role. The role is ultimately accountable for ensuring that Pregis’ EDI platform and solutions add value and fuel innovation and growth. The IT Architect of EDI is a technology steward that ensures appropriate value is harvested from key technology investments, will be a key member of the IT team, and will report to the Vice President and CIO.

Representative Duties

  • Develop and maintain EDI maps, including translation rules and processes, to facilitate the exchange of electronic data between Pregis and external trading partners
  • Collaborate with various internal teams and external partners to gather and analyze business requirements, ensuring compliance with EDI protocols and standards
  • Monitor and troubleshoot EDI transactions, identifying and resolving any errors or discrepancies in a timely manner to ensure a smooth flow of information
  • Create and maintain documentation related to EDI processes and procedures, including mapping specifications, data interchange agreements, and trading partner profiles
  • Coordinate with external trading partners to onboard new partners, manage EDI testing, and resolve any issues related to data exchange
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in EDI protocols and standards, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate EDI systems and processes with internal systems, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency
  • Provide training and support to internal users on EDI processes, tools, and best practices
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure compliance with EDI guidelines and standards, including data accuracy, data security, and data confidentiality
  • Assist in managing EDI projects, including system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements, ensuring successful completion within agreed timelines and budgets
Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive and relevant IT EDI experience
  • In-depth knowledge of EDI protocols, standards, and best practices
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience with EDI and sales enablement software
  • Significant exposure to key enterprise software, multiple EDI tools, and SAP
  • Experience in working with EDI VANs (Value-Added Networks) is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of EDI protocols such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, and AS2
  • Knowledge of industry-specific EDI documents and transactions, such as purchase orders, invoices, and advanced shipping notices
  • Effective problem-solving skills and various requirements gathering techniques
  • Strong business acumen within manufacturing and operations functional areas
  • Strong ability to manage several projects in-flight
  • Well-versed in Implementation Methodology
  • Ability to travel occasionally if required
  • Overtime if project deadlines dictate
