General Summary
The Senior Process Engineer develops and documents manufacturing techniques, materials, tools and processes related to back-end semiconductor assembly. Performs analyses and selects techniques to solve problems and enhance product yield and process flows.

General Summary
The Senior Process Engineer develops and documents manufacturing techniques, materials, tools and processes related to back-end semiconductor assembly. Performs analyses and selects techniques to solve problems and enhance product yield and process flows.
Responsibilities
- Establishes high yielding, cost effective processes based on product need and customer requirements.
- Maintains knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
- Develops and executes Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization utilizing appropriate statistical analysis software, such as JUMP, Minitab, Excel Statistics, or equivalent.
- Establishes processes based on product specifications.
- Evaluates and validates process and design alternatives based on product manufacturability.
- Understands principles of cost of goods sold and develops process improvements to increase cost effectiveness of manufacturing.
- Understands intellectual property issues relative to processes being developed.
- Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors and vendors.
- May serve as member on cross-functional project teams.
- Understands work environment issues (i.e. OSHA regulations, etc.).
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
- No supervisory responsibility, but provides informal guidance to new team members, as well as training others across multiple shifts.
Social/Environmental Requirements:
- High level of attention to detail required.
- Must be adaptable to rapidly changing priorities to fulfill customer needs.
- Position involves working in multiple manufacturing areas, including areas where chemicals and analytical equipment are being used.
- Travel to suppliers and customers may be required.
- Position requires close work, visual monotony and clarity with a microscope.
- Performs tasks that regularly require good correctable vision, color perception and hand/eye coordination.
- Must be able to discriminate between high quality standard parts and parts with marginal quality.
- Must be comfortable with specific gowning requirements in a clean-room environment, with high levels of background noise.
- Ability to hear and communicate both in person and over the phone with background noise present.
- Medium levels of physical work; at times needing to exert force or push items of up to 100lbs and lifting 50-100 lbs.
- Frequent walking in manufacturing areas, including necessary gowning and un-gowning for the specific work area.
- Must be able to stand for extended period of times on hard surfaces
- Occasional twisting and bending as part of daily work. Ability to push/pull/manipulate and grasp work with both hands and reach both above and below shoulder height
- Heavy keyboard use, including interaction with multiple computer systems and production equipment interfaces.
- Frequent endurance with typical spans of >5 hours without a break.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in automated gold ball bonding or copper ball bonding. Experience with AOI systems and semiconductor experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-STD-883, ISO9001 and EIA/JEDEC and standards
- Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
- Skills:
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office® software suite
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Fluency in English
