Wheels Up is looking for a world-class Sr. Manager, Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team of dedicated and passionate professionals, fueled by the most powerful brand in private aviation, as we continue our mission of democratizing the private aviation space through cutting-edge technology and innovative product and service offerings. 

 

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineering Manager Formulates and defines specifications for the design and maintenance of the BI ecosystem which include the handling of databases, data warehousing, ETL processes, and tool administration. Modifies and maintains complex, existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.

Responsibilities:
Applies business acumen with strategic, analytical, and critical thinking when collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their business problems and translate them into actionable insights and reports

Conducts thorough data analysis and develop models as needed to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive analytical business decisions

Designs and creates interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to visualize data and provide actionable information to stakeholders

Develops and maintains data models, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency. Implement database solutions where necessary

Creates and manages ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into usable formats, and load it into databases

Writes and optimizes SQL queries for data retrieval, analysis, and reporting, ensuring efficient database performance

Identifies opportunities for automating routine data tasks and processes, improving efficiency and reducing manual intervention

Data Visualization: Designs visually appealing and user-friendly data visualizations that communicate complex information effectively

Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business partners to deliver data-driven solutions and drive business impact

Hires and leads a team of Business Intelligence Engineers providing end-to-end business intelligence solutions that democratize data across the business

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
A degree (preferably an advanced degree) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in architecting and developing business intelligence solutions, preferably in an operational business environment

Minimum three years of people management experience in an engineering team

Expertise in custom data ETL and data visualization tools (such as Tableau and PowerBI)

Strong programming experience in production environments using SQL and Python

Comfortable with Azure eco-system and exposure to Databricks

Familiarity with Microsoft Business Intelligence technologies and tools (such as TSQL, Power Query, MDX, and DAX)

Experience with theory and practice of data analytics, data science, and preferably machine learning

Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

Excellent communication skills to collaborate with business partners and engineering teams successfully

Salary Range

The wage range for this position ($147,000 – 273,000) is determined on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, such as differences in skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. This wage range has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with where the position may be filled. At Wheels Up, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Your placement within the wage range is primarily based on your qualifications and experience.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
