Position Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University Student Financial Services is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Director of University Computer Systems vacancy.

Responsibilities

  1. The incumbent home office will be on the main campus in Tallahassee; He/She will be supported by two coordinators of computer systems, one at the CoPPS IPH in Tallahassee and one at the Durell Peaden Jr. Rural Pharmacy Education Campus.
  2. The Director will travel to the Peaden campus monthly to ensure the viability of the Peaden technology functionality and the quality of the student experience.
  3. Travels on-demand to the pharmacy practice centers (namely the Northeast Florida PPC in Jacksonville, the Central Florida PPC in Tampa, and the South Florida PPC in Davie) to perform and address IT activities and issues, train personnel, and install or repair hardware/software when online efforts are not effective.
  4. Demonstrates instructional skills (verbal and written) to educate learners, staff, and faculty on best practices in IT.
  5. Effectively interface with IT support personnel of the College and University and articulate the requirements of the College to IT leaders.
  6. Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the College’s technology plan to support curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  7. Oversee the technology infrastructure of the College, including devices, internet access, hardware, learning management systems, and instructional applications.
  8. Ensure that the College website is revised and updated on a regular basis and as needed.
  9. Develop and implement strategies and provide guidance to administrators and faculty on best practices to integrate in the curriculum.
  10. Coordinate services and provide hardware & software technical support for the faculty and staff of the College of Pharmacy’s several locations.
  11. Analyze system performance and implement changes for improvement.
  12. Demonstrate competency and expertise in the use of CANVAS, Zoom, ExamSoft, ExamMaster, Enflux, Microsoft, and other software that support current and evolving College operations.
  13. Assist Faculty by ensuring that all online courses are Quality Matters (QM) certified.
  14. Troubleshoot systems hardware and software malfunctions and take corrective action.
  15. Manage CoPPS IPH Computer Laboratory and a network containing the latest Windows Server and attached workstations.
  16. Ensure automatic scheduling of classes in Zoom (or other college software) to avoid errors in scheduling and/or delays.
  17. Review and analyze software and determine optimum configuration for installation, customizing, and maintaining systems and hardware in the College of Pharmacy.
  18. Perform comprehensive diagnostic problem determination and implement required software patches, service packs, updates, and/or enhancements to CoPPS, IPH computer software and hardware.
  19. Develop Data Backup and Disaster/Recovery Procedures for the branch servers and computer workstations systems.
  20. Set up, manage, and monitor the operation of all audio/visual and teleconferencing equipment.
  21. Develop and maintain a service log/database of all College computer equipment.
  22. Coordinate the design and maintenance of the College website.
  23. Support, proctor, and troubleshoot the Examsoft testing software and exams.
  24. Supervise and conduct all Enflux training sessions and oversee data collection for all Enflux reports.
  25. Act as liaison to the University network staff to ensure that the College receives the best possible network service.
  26. Provide training/materials and assistance to the COPPS IPH staff and learners on departmental software and hardware.
  27. Plan and provide training for faculty and staff on the proper use of audio/visual equipment in classrooms.
  28. Become Quality Matters (QM)-certified within six (6) months of the position starting date.
  29. Attend at least one external professional state or national IT annual conference and one educational technology annual conference.
  30. Support IPH faculty and staff computing needs including Florida Public Health Training Center LPHTC Grant and webinars.
  31. Perform other University and College Computer Systems functional and operational support as assigned by the CEO Dean, the Executive Associate Dean, and/or the Peaden Education Campus Dean.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or appropriate area of specialization and eight years of related experience; or Master's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or appropriate area of specialization and six years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
