Position Summary
The Marketing and Advertising Data Science Team is dedicated to incubating and developing data-driven, ML/AI solutions that help Walmart, suppliers, and sellers connect with customers through marketing and advertising to drive business objectives. For the buyer side (marketing), the focus is on bringing in high-quality traffic to the site at the lowest cost by optimizing paid campaigns and improving organic ranking on search engines, as well as retaining and expanding our loyal customer base via personalized messaging. For the seller side (advertising), the focus is on expanding advertising opportunities and improving advertisers' experience via enhanced ads relevance, accurate forecasting, and better lift measurements.
We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in generative AI, large language models, and deep learning to elevate our AI initiatives for marketing and advertising. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a profound mastery of state-of-the-art GEN AI and LLM technologies, adept at translating innovative concepts into impactful business applications in content creation, moderation, and creating conversational-based AI assistants for advertisers and marketers.
What You'll Do
- Develop and customize state-of-the-art deep learning-based generative models and multimodal models for the creation and moderation of text, images, and videos.
- Utilize advanced large language models to design AI-powered conversational assistants and agents that assist advertisers and marketers in campaign management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to seamlessly transition AI innovations into scalable and reliable operational solutions.
- Explore and identify novel applications for generative AI within the marketing and advertising sectors.
- Develop visuals and reports that succinctly convey model outcomes, benefits, and insights to business stakeholders.
- Maintain world-class academic credentials through patent applications, publications, conference presentations, and external collaboration and service to the research community.
What You'll Bring
- Expertise in working with deep-learning-based generative/multi-modal/multi-task models or similar research experience with deep-learning/AI.
- Expertise in large deep-learning model fine-tuning and deployment.
- Solid programming skills in Python and familiarity with challenges working with large data.
- PhD degree and 2 years of experience or Master's and 4 years of experience in computer science, statistics, data science, mathematics, or other discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, economics, psychology) that exposes scientific methods of research and analysis.
- Strong academic and publication record is required (NeurIPS, ICML, EMNLP, ACL, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, KDD etc.).

- Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
