Patagon Search ( has a HYBRID role (3 days in, 2 days out) with a midsize national law firm that handles major cases on behalf of major companies. This is a Paralegal/Legal Assistant hybrid role. The office is located in Downtown LA (right off the 110) not far from Dodger Stadium. This role includes some, but not all, of the following responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of legal secretarial and administrative duties in support of assigned attorney(s)/ paralegal(s) and the ongoing operations of the office.
- Arrange travel for assigned attorney(s)/paralegal(s) (includes scheduling transportation and making hotel reservations).
- Answer telephones for assigned attorney(s)/paralegal(s).
- Assist covering reception phones when needed.
- Produce legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings, briefs, opinions, complaints, administrative decisions, orders and subpoenas from verbal or written instructions, dictation, notes, rough drafts or other materials which may be difficult to interpret and/or format.
- Proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax and content.
- Input, retrieve and update information using computerized databases.
- Sort, open, log and distribute incoming mail.
- Prepare trial notebooks and exhibit listings.
- Prepare and assemble materials, documents and exhibits for meetings, court appearances and hearings.
- Establish and maintain office files.
- Enter attorney billable/nonbillable time into Intapp for assigned timekeepers.
- Schedule and maintain calendar of activities for assigned attorney(s)/paralegals(s).
- Download documents from electronic court filing systems, combine downloaded documents and save to documents management system.
- Liaison between assigned timekeepers, employees of the firm, clients and interested outside parties.
- Build and maintain customer relationships with clients and vendors.
Candidates should be experienced in the following areas:
- MS Word, Word Styles and generation of Tables of Contents and Authorities.
- Outlook, NetDocuments, Innova, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, PowerPoint, Chrome River Expenses, Intapp Time, Litera suite (Check, Best Authority, DocXtools, Change-Pro or Compare, Concordance, iConnect, and Compulaw.
- Federal, state and local rules, court filing procedures, e-filing and service of process.
- Correct English usage, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology.
- Office organization, workflow and procedures.
- Organization and maintenance of filing systems related to the work.
- Forms used in the legal work environment.
- Legal terminology and syntax.
- Possess confidentiality, initiative and sound decision-making skills.
