Solicitation for 2012 Seasonal Employment
Culinary Cruisers specializes in food and beverage vending via custom-built, pedal powered tricycle food carts. For our Pilot Summer, we are hiring qualified salespeople to join the team on a seasonal basis with opportunity for advancement.
Position
Culinary Cruisers is hiring part-to-full time (20-40 hrs/week) seasonal salespeople to assist with its growing business in the mobile food sector. Hourly wage to be determined based on skills and experience. The seasonal salesperson will be responsible for the delivery and vending of various hand-crafted, locally-produced food products including, but not limited to Ocean Ave fresh fruit popsicles, Soda, and Kombucha. Transportation to vending locations will be performed via utility tricycle with some vehicular assistance. Current vending locations include Union Square, Somerville; Memorial Drive, Cambridge; Boston Greenway; Boston City Hall; Dewey Square, Boston and others. Base of operations is located in Union Square, Somerville. Qualified candidates will be passionate about the role of cycling and food networks in an ever-changing urban environment.
Background/Qualifications
Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills throughout the late spring and summer months at one or more of Culinary Cruisers’ established vending locations:
- Friendliness, courteousness, and positivity in a sales-oriented environment
- Ability to safely and responsibly operate a pedal-powered, mobile food cart
- Superior communication skills with both co-workers and customers
- Flexibility and responsiveness to a variety of transitory marketplaces and weather conditions
Prerequisite qualifications include:
- Bachelors degree or current college student
- Established cyclist (includes commuters)
- Professional or volunteer experience with sales and/or foodservice
The Company
Culinary Cruisers is based in Union Square, Somerville. We are in the midst of a very interesting and exciting convergence of transportation and food. The food cart revolution is helping us rethink the traditional model of brick and mortar restaurants and is enabling us to experience different ways of food traveling to us, of us traveling to food.
